Lunch Time Poll with Katie Gorham

Reelout & Blue Canoe Productions are proud to be co-producing Heathers The Musical, (book, music & lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy) at The Baby Grand Theatre in Kingston, ON Canada.  The show runs Tuesday May 3-Sunday May 8, 2016.

Name: Katie Gorham    Age: 19   Role: Heather Puke…er…DUKE

Where You’ve Seen Her Before: You might have seen me in The House of Martin Guerre from the Queen’s School of Drama and Music, as ‘Drunk Trollope’, or in Hairspray as ‘Velma Von Tussle’, with Mainstage Theatre Company, or even in 2014 as ‘Elle Woods’ in Legally Blonde also with Mainstage Theatre Company.

Who’s Your Favourite Heathers the Musical Character? I LOVE Ms. Fleming because she has a heart of gold and genuinely wants to make things better for the students of Westerberg, but in a wacky and totally off-putting way. Also that she had the balls to enter into an affair with Steve. He is quite the wild-card.

You win 1 million dollars the same day aliens land on earth and say they’re going to blow it up.  What are you going to do with the money?   I would buy a puppy/kitten from the Shelter and hold them until the end.

Well this got bleak quickly. Um If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one Heather who would it be and why? It would, hands-down, be Heather Mcnamamarama (I think I spelled that right), because she is so friendly and sweet and would find a way to make the best of a bad situation.

What movie title (or song title) best describes your character’s personality? “Les Miserables” in the beginning, and then “The Change Up” when the world becomes her oyster.

Heathers the Musical is part of The Juvenis Festival, a week-long celebration of youth and the arts in Kingston funded in part through the generosity of the City of Kingston Arts Fund. #juvy2016  Check out their website at
